Fr. Clark Lecture: Our Lady, Mirror of Justice
St. Luke Sodality for Art

 |

October 31, 2023

Calling all artists and all those who simply love art! The St. Luke Sodality will host a lecture by Fr. Michael Clark entitled “Our Lady, Mirror of Justice” on Thursday November 9th at 7:00 PM in Pryor-Hubbard Hall on the Oratory Campus.

One of Our Lady’s titles from the Litany of Loreto is ‘Speculum iustitiae’ (the ‘Mirror of justice.’) Frequently this is seen in reference to the Law of God, but it equally applies to the divine image perfectly reflected in her. God’s creation is also justice – He saw that it was good – and art is the reflection of that justice, communicating God’s truth to humanity. Just as the Blessed Virgin is the Mirror, so too art is a necessary reflection of God’s goodness, and an indispensable component of what it is to be human.

After the lecture those who might be interested to find out more about the Sodality are most welcome to stay for a meeting immediately following. But whether or not you are able to stay, please join us for Fr. Michael’s lecture.
