Sursum Corda – The Guild

In the past, Guilds existed for like-minded people to come together for devotional activity; whether they were bootmakers, or merchants or simply residents of a given parish. If they shared a common interest or devotion, they organized themselves as a Guild to give a corporate identity to their endeavors. In establishing this new ‘Guild of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus’, Bishop Caggiano is inviting all those who care about the Sacred Arts to join with him in a wide array of projects and initiatives to promote and foster Beauty in our Catholic life. Based in Georgetown CT, but with a wider focus, the Guild will showcase different ways to enhance participation in the richness of our own culture. God made us in His image, in order to grow in His likeness, and we do that by becoming like Him through grace day by day. As we saw in the Burning Bush, God desires to be discovered, and He delights in the creativity of mankind in the Arts, where, using talents He bestows on us, we find out more about ourselves as creatures, thereby gazing into the face of Christ, who became flesh and dwelt amongst us.
